JJ and the Pillars feat. Alyssa Morrissey - "Howl" (Indie):  Led by JJ Thompson, and formed in 2013, the roots-rockers from Peterborough, ON, took first place in 102.1 the Edge’s Next Big Thing competition in 2014, then released their debut album, The Wolves, via Dine Alone. They've played shows alongside artists such as Arkells, USS, Dear Rouge, Tokyo Police Club, and Billy Talent.

Their second album, Daisy, was recorded with producer Kevin Dietz (The Cranberries, The Glorious Sons) and will be released shortly. This advance single features the strong vocals of country singer, Alyssa Morrissey, who harmonises effectively with JJ. They are partners offstage too, adding to the chemistry of lines like "looking at you is my heart attack." The result is a seriously radio-friendly cut.

In a press release, JJ explains that "Howl” is about finding someone that makes you feel free, not afraid to be yourself around them. We have always been very comfortable both on/off stage together. Alyssa was always the country girl, while I’m the rock guy. We wanted to write a song about our relationship that was perfect for both of us."

The Peterborough-raised Morrissey is no stranger to duets. Signed to MTS Management Group/MTS Records, she received a nomination in the 2015 Nashville Universe Awards, as Duo Of The Year, with Matt Williams.

JJ and The Pillars launch Daisy at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace on Oct. 5. JJ is currently on tour with Finger Eleven and I Mother Earth, opening select shows with a solo acoustic performance.
